Dear conference participants, lecturers, students and dear friends of the UNESCO UNITWIN network,
the 7th UNESCO UNITWIN conference, which took place between 15 and 20 May 2022 in Portorož at FTŠ Turistica, was successfully concluded.
In 5 days, Turistica attracted 153 participants from 35 countries and 5 continents. We managed to perform it live for the most part. The theme of the conference 'Responding to the challenges in a changing world' opened and deepened valuable presentations, insightful discussions and invaluable networking, which will be a guide for all of us in our further research work.
We believe that the diverse and dynamic group of speakers and panelists provided in-depth insights, as well as, actionable and practical tools of engagement models, methods and mechanisms that have worked in other countries; and were able to share how to become more effective in the on-going development efforts in key areas such as world heritage and tourism.
As hosts of numerous social events, we tried to bring our destination Portorož - Piran and Slovenia with UNESCO-protected beauties closer to you all. We hope we succeeded! Undoubtedly, the conference contributed to the forging of new ties, contacts, friendships and good energy for new research ventures for the benefit of our heritage and tourism.
